Streetworks as temporary obstacles in one’s (familiar) environment leave blind people disoriented. This project aims to make streetworks better navigable and understandable. A prototype of the proposed system revealed that 85 % of participants approved the system. In addition to a physical sign design including tactile markings and high contrast colours, the system includes a smartphone app where info on new streetworks can be gathered and consequently accessed by visually impaired.
