Distinctive and predictable sounds in the urban environment are key source of navigational information
Changes in the sound of traffic, the sounds of different trains or of a shouting market stall holder are all examples of useful and important navigational landmarks that come in the form of sound.
Implications:
Sound is an important source of navigation information for many people with sight loss.
Opportunities:
Ways to augment and enrich the sounds that are already present in the environment could make navigation easier for some people with sight loss.
